In the year 1963, Bill Cook opened Bill's Repair Shop to the public as a small appliance and domestic sewing machine repair service. Then in 1985, he sold the business to Barry Cook who continues to co-run the shop today with his wife Jennie.

Bill's Sewing Machine Co. purchased APEX in 1988 and began selling custom specialty tops and stands in 2001. Over the years, the company has grown to incorporate both a home and industrial sewing department for machine sales and repairs.
